IIIT Hyderabad - Admission 2025, Fees, Courses, Placement, Ranking

International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad is an autonomous institute in Hyderabad which was established in the year 1998. It is spread over 66 acres of land.  The IIIT Hyderabad infrastructure includes well-established laboratories with the latest hardware and software, a library with an online public access catalogue facility, a digital library, three separate hostels for boys and girls, a gymnasium, a yoga room along with numerous facilities. Bank extension counter, ATM machine, stationery shop, laundry services, sports facilities, etc are some of the top IIITH facilities. 

It is a very prominent institute in India and is recognised by UGC and AICTE. As per NIRF Rankings 2025, International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad ranks 55 under the University category and ranks 89 under the Overall category. The QS World Ranking for the institute lies in the band gap of 501-550. Also, it achieved a rank of 6 in India and 162 in the Asia region by Times Higher Education Ranking.

Numerous courses at the graduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels comprise the IIIT Hyderabad course list. Some of the popular degrees offered at the institute include M.Tech, B.Tech+MS, B.Tech, MS, and M.Phil. IIIT Hyderabad curriculum also focuses on research and innovation. Admissions at IIITH are done on the basis of entrance exams and on the basis of merit. It also accepts undergraduate entrance examinations for all dual degree programmes- B.Tech and MS. For admission to B.Tech programmes like ECE and CSE, admissions are done through SPEC mode for those applicants who applied under the Udaan scheme or studied at JNV. The institute also accepts lateral entry programmes for admissions in dual degree programmes. 

Admissions to undergraduate and dual degree programmes are also done through Olympiad/KVPY mode for applicants who have the distinction of being selected for olympiads at the national level or earned a high rank in KVPY. Also, the institute accepts admission on the basis of SAT score for DASA mode for admissions in UG single degree and dual degree programmes. IIIT Hyderabad B.Tech admissions in CSE and ECE is done through JEE Main; and postgraduate entrance examination is conducted for admission in M.Tech, MS and PhD programmes. For admission in M.Tech Product Design and Management programme, GATE and CEED scores are accepted. IIIT Hyderabad admissions for CSE, ECE, and civil courses at the doctoral level are done on the basis of GATE scores. GATE applications for this year have already been closed, for next year the applications will open in the last week of August with the exam being conducted in February 2026. The IIIT Hyderabad placement is varied, with recruitment options in both corporates and the public sector and entrepreneurship. During the 2024 placement drive at IIIT Hyderabad, the highest package reached was105 LPA, while the average package stood at INR 26.34 LPA. Overall, the placement rate was 99.27%, The top recruiters at the IIIT Hyderabad campus placement drive in 2024 are Google, Microsoft, HSBC, Facebook, TCS, Amazon, Deloitte, etc to name a few.

IIIT Hyderabad courses comprise of numerous undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses under various specialisation. IIITH courses offered under MSIT programme follows a project-based curriculum. The two specialisations offered under IIIT Hyderabad B.Tech course are computer science and engineering and electronics and communications engineering. Similarly, IIT Hyderabad M.Tech course is offered under four specialisations namely computer science and engineering, computer science and information security, product design and management, and computer-aided structural engineering. The other IIITH courses include PhD, MS by research, M.Phil. in computational linguistics (CL), dual-degree programmes, and PGSSP. The IIIT Hyderabad eligibility criteria vary from course to course. Similarly, the IIIT Hyderabad fees set for the course are different from one another. The IIITH fees for B.Tech single-degree, dual-degree programmes, M.Tech CSE, M.Tech CSIS, M.Tech CASE, and M.Tech PDM is Rs 3,30,000 per annum. The IIIT Hyderabad fees for international students for various courses start from USD 16,000. All the courses offered at IIIT Hyderabad offer semester-based teaching and have a fixed course duration except for the doctoral level courses where there is flexibility in course duration.
